Pulsar Guard 2010 non-invasive process monitoring sensor
03 September, 2010 byThe Pulsar Guard 2010 sensor detects structure-borne acoustic signals caused by the movement of material. This movement causes impacts and frictional contact with a containing face, eg, the inside of a pipe. The sensor is fastened to the outside of the structure and its high frequency detection picks up these signals, which are often undetectable to the human ear. The high-frequency detection allows use in environments where there is a high degree of machinery noise or process noise, without interference. The sensor’s non-invasive nature allows easy fit to most pipes, chutes or feed mechanisms without stopping the process.
Koehler Automated Colorimeter
03 September, 2010 byThe Koehler Automated Colorimeter is a microprocessor-controlled spectrophotometer with a wavelength range from 380 to 720 nm for colour measurement or 320 nm up to 1100 nm for routine analysis. It can carry out an exact colorimetric evaluation in conformity with several ISO/ASTM standards with just a single measurement and display the result in terms of traditional colour systems such as Iodine, Hazen/APHA or Gardner colour numbers as well as in modern CIE-L*a*b* colour values.
Hach No Glass pH system
03 September, 2010 byThe Hach H series rugged portable meter systems provide a large LCD with LED backlight and measurement of pH (ISFET or glass), mV, temperature, conductivity, total dissolved solids (TDS), salinity and oxidation reduction potential (ORP).
Pesticide and mycotoxin analysis in food
03 September, 2010European agri-food company Conserve Italia is using Thermo Scientific GC/MS and LC/MS systems for fast and reliable pesticide analysis of food products. Conserve Italia processes around 650,000 tons of raw materials each year, including fruits, vegetables and tomatoes, and provides the European market with finished goods such as fruit juices, canned vegetables and tomato sauces and purees. The organisation is using the Thermo Scientific TSQ Quantum GC and TSQ Quantum Access Max triple-stage quadrupole mass spectrometers to achieve compliance with maximum residue limits (MRLs) specified for pesticides in food. By using the instruments, the laboratory has significantly increased sample throughput as well as experienced substantial time and cost savings.
