Automation, sensors and safety
20 July, 2005Pepperl+Fuchs Australia, with the acquisition of Visolux, Omnitron (3D Barcode) and Stahltronic, offers the food industry products to cater for improved production, processes and automation.
Sanitary sampling
22 June, 2005Hisen manufactures manual and automatic sampling equipment for liquid or powder sanitary applications in the beverage, food processing, dairy and pharmaceutical industries.
Pallet-to-plate authentication using DNA
29 May, 2005Gribbles Molecular Science (GMS) and Sunshine Technologies (ST) have formed a joint venture company, id-DNA Pty Ltd, focusing on the use of DNA technology in the biosecurity area.
Pressure test tools
25 May, 2005Davidson Measurement has released the DPI 800 series of calibrators. Nine models cover pressure and temperature, dual function versions also provide additional facilities for measuring mA, supplying 24 V power, testing switches and providing Hart compatibility.
Online meat analysis
22 April, 2005The CFS MultiTrack online meat analysis system means that the mixing process no longer needs to be interrupted in order to measure the fat, water and protein content of batches of meat. Rapid adjustments can be made if any deviation is detected from the desired target value. The result: greater efficiency, effective checking and thus the security of achieving constant quality levels for meat products.
Pressure transducer
17 March, 2005The Ceraphant from Endress+Hauser is a rangeable pressure transducer with a stainless steel housing and integrated display.
Tests for imported food
17 November, 2004Overseas food producers and manufacturers wanting to export to Australia are now responsible for nominating a laboratory for testing their foods and for providing the packaging for samples drawn from their foods.
Hygienic pressure measurement
29 October, 2004Aimed at the brewing, pharmaceutical, and food and drinks manufacturing markets, Wika has developed a diaphragm seal system with a process connection specially designed for pressure measurement in sterile processes.
Biosensor detects foodborne pathogen
27 October, 2004A team of food scientists at Purdue University has developed a sensor that can detect the potentially deadly bacteria Listeria monocytogenes in less than 24 hours at concentrations as low as 1000 cells per millilitre of fluid. The sensor is also selective enough to recognise only the species monocytogenes.
The easy guide to pH measurement
06 October, 2004The measurement and control of pH is instrumental in many processes throughout the food industry. Getting the best from pH equipment requires consideration of a range of factors to achieve optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness
Evaluation of handwashing efficiency
06 September, 2004 by Dr Nerys Bennion, Snr Project Scientist, Biotrace InternationalThe importance of handwashing in preventing the spread of infection is well documented particularly in the healthcare sector, but there is also a growing awareness of its relevance to food handlers
