IMCD Group opens Singapore headquarters
IMCD Group has announced the opening of its regional headquarters in Singapore and the appointment of Albert Stevens as Vice President Asia. This step is seen to strengthen its position in the Asia-Pacific region.
The regional office in Singapore will oversee the corporate and business strategies in this region where IMCD is already active in five countries, generating an annual turnover of EUR 150 million.
Piet van der Slikke, IMCD Group’s CEO, commented on the move, “Having gained the reputation of being a highly transparent partner in Europe, we are now aiming to become a preferred distributor for the leading suppliers of specialty products in Asia. IMCD wants to apply the capabilities and know-how acquired in Europe to the same sectors in the Asian markets.”
Earlier this year, as a part of expansion plans, IMCD opened two laboratories in Asia, Coatings lab in Mumbai, India and Personal Care lab in Glenmarie Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia.
Stevens holds an MSc in Biochemistry and a BA in Political Sciences and brings 15 years of experience in chemical distribution and life sciences, where he held senior marketing and sales positions for a number of reputable Dutch companies with international reach. Prior to the latest appointment, he served as General Manager Pharmaceuticals & Personal Care IMCD Benelux (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg) B.V. He also contributed to the expansion into the Pharmaceutical market in China.
Congratulating Stevens on his new appointment, Van der Slikke said, “Albert has been an asset to our business development initiatives across Benelux and in China. With his expertise in managing multi-markets, skill-sets and insight of our business and the industry, we are confident that he will play a key role to further strengthen our presence and seek new growth opportunities in Asia. At the same time, he will continue overseeing our activities in the Pharmaceutical market in China.”
