On shelf: Probiotic soda innovation

Inspired by the growing consumer demand for probiotic-enriched products and sugar-free alternatives to traditional products, Australian brand Nexba has launched a range of probiotic sodas.

The Australian brother-in-law founders, Troy and Drew, spent years working on the formula development that led them to the Bacillus Coagulan probiotic strain. Unlike most other commercially found probiotics, this strain is claimed to survive the harsh journey to the stomach and remain effective in non-refrigerated environments.

The company has had their product scientifically tested and has said that at least 85% of the probiotics in any of their functional drinks will make it to the gut alive — this includes its Kombucha, Kefir, Switchel, Probiotic Water and the new Probiotic Soda range.

Made using the company’s patented Naturally Sugar-Free formulation, each 375 mL can in the new range is claimed to contain a billion live probiotics. Flavours include cherry cola and pineapple, and the four-pack packaging includes the ‘Boosts immunity’ proven claim.

“Nexba has always been about having the best of both worlds — epic taste but with no sugar and nothing artificial. Our new Probiotic Soda range couldn’t be truer to this. With the added benefit of 1 billion probiotics in every can to support gut health, this is the ultimate fun but functional innovation to shake up the soft drinks market,” said Drew Bilbe, Nexba Co-CEO and Co-Founder.

The company has also expanded its 1 L soft drink range to include both Creaming Soda and Passionfruit flavours.
