Nutricia announces extra safety procedures
Infant formula manufacturer Nutricia has announced extra safety commitments following the recall of a number of its Karicare products as a result of Fonterra’s WPC80 contamination scare.
The company has added three commitments to its safety regime:
- Extra controls on suppliers.
- Innovation to improve industry standards.
- Extra commitment to communication with parents and carers.
Nutricia says it will maintain its established quality and safety procedures of rigorous testing, state-of-the-art manufacturing, comprehensive sanitation and hygiene, quality and safety accreditations, and traceability.
The company will open the doors of its Auckland manufacturing facility this week to key stakeholders - including government, retail partners, consumers and the media - so they can see what happens ‘behind the tin’.
“We not only pride ourselves on our safety and quality standards, we are also willing to publicly share our commitment to safety and quality by opening up the doors to our factory, laboratory and Careline centre at our Mount Wellington facility,” said Corine Tap, general manager Nutricia Australia & New Zealand.
Nutricia says it has also placed extra controls on its suppliers to ensure that the highest quality and safety standards are met. These standards will be maintained through Nutricia’s continuing investment in products, services, safety and scientific innovations.
