Universal Robots (UR) has announced plans to open its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore. This will be the sixth global office for the company.

Servicing the entire Asia-Pacific region, excluding China and India, the Singapore office will be responsible for operations and expansion plans across the region as well as training regional distributors on UR technologies.

UR has also announced the appointment of its first general manager for its Asia-Pacific operations. Based in Singapore, Shermine Gotfredsen has been promoted from within UR and will lead the company’s activities across the region.

“We aim to work in partnership with companies across the region to make the right decisions on how to improve their productivity. We believe that we can help SMEs push the envelope on what they can achieve and provide them with the essential tools to succeed,” said Gotfredsen.

UR launched its simple-to-program robots in Australia and New Zealand in early 2014. The company currently has three authorised distributors in Australia and New Zealand.
