Campbell Brothers acquires two UK testing companies for ALS Group
Campbell Brothers has announced that its testing services business, the ALS Group, has acquired two UK companies: Eclipse Scientific Group and Advanced Micro Services (AMS) for around AU$39m. The acquisition is expected to be completed by 3 April 2012.
ALS Group offers testing and technical services to a range of markets, including the food and pharmaceutical markets. Already employing more than 11,000 staff in 55 countries, the acquisition will increase ALS Group’s European employee base to more than 1000.
“The acquisition of Eclipse and AMS will provide ALS with the opportunity to expand our existing food and pharmaceutical services into new geographies in the UK and Ireland,” said Greg Kilmister, Campbell Brothers’ Managing Director.
“The food testing facilities in the UK and Ireland will allow us to accelerate the development of a global food and pharmaceutical testing business and help build our overall presence in Europe.”
Eclipse Scientific Group is a provider of food, dairy, water and pharmaceutical testing services to manufacturing, food processing and retail clients. AMS provides similar services in Ireland.
