A cow of a day
Tuesday, 25 September, 2012
The food and beverage industry is alive and kicking in New Zealand, if the first day of Foodtech Packtech is any indication. This show is held every two years in Auckland and will be open from 9 am-6 pm on Wednesday 26 September and 9 am-4 pm on Thursday.
On a morning that had glum news in NZ about job losses in the mining industry and Kiwi Rail, the event at Auckland Showground was cheerful. There were lots of visitors who were all upbeat and positive about NZ’s food industry and all of the exhibitors with whom I spoke were encouraged by the interest the show visitors were showing in their products.
So why was it a cow of a day? Well, on the What’s New in Food Technology & Manufacturing stand, we were giving away stress ball cows. And we have given away lots and lots of cows.
The readership of the magazine is audited and we have to be able to prove that our readers are ‘real’ people and we have to have them re-register every few years to prove they are still ‘real’. On our stand we are signing up new readers and re-registering existing readers, and as a bonus we are giving away the cows.
If you have given away as many cows as we have today you will understand why it was “a cow of a day”.
But I am still looking forward to doing it again tomorrow and Thursday as well. If you are in Auckland, come to the show (entry is free), visit the What’s New in Food Technology & Manufacturing stand, have a chat and get a cow.
