Mercer Stainless stainless steel storage and transport vessels
Mercer Stainless manufactures stainless steel storage and transport vessels for a wide variety of applications including milk, chemicals and other liquids through to powders and free-flowing solids.
Expertise within the company ensures all vessels are built to high quality and finish and the vessels are engineered to withstand the seismic classifications under which they are situated. Pressure vessels can be designed to perform in a variety of applications and within the requirements of the applicable pressure-vessel code.
Fabrication takes place either in New Zealand or Australia. Weld quality is designed to not allow bacterial growth, and cleaning in place (CIP) sprays ensure the vessel is thoroughly cleaned, removing any risk to product.
Static silos up to 500 m3 in volume have successfully been installed at a variety of manufacturing sites around Australasia. In addition to product silos, smaller process vessels can also be fabricated. Powder bins have been designed and manufactured up to 150 m3 and to hold up to 100 t of product. These vessels can be vented to mitigate the risk of explosion and subsequent danger to staff and property. The vessel bases can be conical, domed or flat and either mounted on legs or a skirt, or built into a building floor with a support ring.
The company has designed truck tankers for long-haul applications in rigid A and B train configurations. Insulation and environmental protection measures can be added if required and clean lines and enclosed glove ribs make cleaning the unit straightforward. An added benefit is improved streamlining, resulting in better fuel economy and fleet appearance. The fitting of a valance reduces the risk of spillage. Tankers can be designed to fit rail transport requirements as well as road, with a variety of unloading solutions.
All vessels can be equipped with a variety of modifications, from agitators to jackets for temperature regulation and control. The company’s PV valves allow venting, overpressure protection and vacuum protection for both tankers and static silos. Nozzles, manways, sightglasses and sprayballs can be manufactured and installed where required. Platforms and ladders can be supplied to allow access to these items.
