NORD Drivesystems electromagnetic brakes with IP66 protection

NORD Drivesystems has available German-made electromagnetic brakes with improved IP protection ratings to suit most conditions. These IP66 brakes are suitable for food, water and marine industrial users.

The company’s standard electromagnetic brakes are normally supplied with IP55 protection. The IP66 brakes include features such as a stainless steel friction disc, painted bearing cover and a dust protection ring. For applications requiring high washdown or an aggressive cleaning regime, the IP66 rated protection is also available.

The electromagnetic brake torque range covers sizes between 5 and 400 Nm. The electric motor frame sizes accommodated range from IEC 63 to IEC 200 frame. These electromagnetic brakes are available with a range of coil voltages: 24, 105, 180, 205, 225 and 250 VDC. Power supply voltages range from 200 to 480 V.

The electromagnetic brakes are suitable for all NORD electric motors as fitted to NORD helical geared motors and for NORD IEC standard electric motors.

The brake linings are completely asbestos free. Other options include lockable and manual release hand levers, micro switch, noise-reduced brakes, accelerated brake activation and standstill heating of brakes with bifilar windings.

Alternative half-wave and full-wave rectifiers are also available on request. All technical and performance details, including brake switching times and friction depending on switching frequency, are available on request.
