Urschel has held an elaborate groundbreaking facility for a US$80 million construction project at its Valparaiso, Indiana, site. The facility will encompass 71 acres, with 160 acres being purchased for future growth. Since 1958, when the company first moved to its current location, the facility has expanded to more than 28 times its original size.

More than 300 employees were invited to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony, which involved the employees gathering in the shape of a giant Urschel logo and breaking the ground with engraved shovels. Aerial photographs were taken of the ceremony.

“This is an exciting time in Urschel history,” said Bob Urschel, CEO and President of Urschel Laboratories. “Construction of this new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility demonstrates our commitment to Urschel customers around the globe.”

“The strength of our workforce is one of our greatest assets,” added Rick Urschel, Vice President of Operations. “Although we reviewed many attractive offers nationwide, remaining in this area with the current Urschel team was a major factor in the site selection process.”
