Seafood Expo Asia in September
Held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 5–7 September, this year’s Seafood Expo Asia will bring together industry professionals to source the latest products, meet with suppliers and discuss current trends.
Produced by Diversified Communications, the event is an opportunity for buyers and suppliers of seafood from around the world to network and conduct business in the lucrative Hong Kong and Asia Pacific markets.
It will build on last year’s success, which attracted over 8000 seafood professionals from 69 different countries and featured 190 exhibitors. Registered attendees include City Super from Hong Kong, Tesco Stores from Malaysia and Walmart from China.
Attendees at the Seafood Expo Asia will have the opportunity to discuss the Internet of Things applications in the seafood industry, traceability and authentication, and consumer trends. There will also be a number of attractions available to knowledge-share with other professionals, including: a workshop on sustainability and certification; culinary demonstrations on preparing fish; a masterclass series on sourcing and handling seafood; and the Product Showcase, which displays suppliers’ most popular products.
However, this year will feature a redesigned Product Showcase compared to the previous seven years. It will be presented in a market-style setting that will allow exhibitors to effectively showcase their products and brands to the market.
Event director Iris Kwan has confirmed that there will be a number of new companies and countries at the 2017 event. Countries such as Spain, France and South Korea will have international pavilions, and Denmark, Iceland and the Maldives will be exhibiting for the first time.
“Forming relationships with customers in this part of the world is vital for global seafood producers and suppliers when one considers that seafood consumption is projected for considerable growth across the entire region,” Kwan explained.
According to the World Bank, the Asia Pacific region will account for 70% of global fish consumption by 2030. Therefore, the Seafood Expo Asia is a global attraction as it is increasingly becoming the hub of the seafood industry.
“With consumer demand for seafood at a record high, international buyers and decision-makers representing retailers, supermarkets, importers, hotels, restaurants, chefs, catering services, wholesalers and distributors will gain valuable insight into new product innovations, best practices and emerging trends affecting the industry in the Asian market,” Kwan said.
By highlighting the most recent developments, the event aims to aid buyers and suppliers in further understanding industry trends and successfully growing their businesses.
