To meet the multifaceted requirements for flexible packaging versatility, Krones AG is now, with Modulpac, offering a concept providing options for all-round packaging.

The wrap-around machine consists of a basic module with 90° container infeed and linear carton feed, and can be customised by adding the appropriate modules.

It is a lateral packer, with product being fed in from the side to ensure it is securely guided throughout.

The blank magazine and timing chain are in one line. This not only ensures good accessibility, it also facilitates modularisation.

The same basic machine can be used to handle carton boxes and flat blanks or to pack loose bottles in shrink-films.

A wide range of different pack designs can be created: trays in half-depth and full-depth versions, angle-cut display trays, closed or semi-open wrap-around cartons or trays with lids.

The basic module handles the folding process for the carton, while various grouping modules can be linked up such as a pneumatic spacer or a pick-and-place station, which will grasp and transfer complete layers from carriers.

A grouping station can pregroup small container sizes and push them into the machine as a complete unit. It can also be used for changing the products' transport direction.
