Vietnam experiences a milk production shortfall of 650,000 tons per year for the local market. To address this, TH Milk, the largest dairy project in the country, was created in Hanoi. This ambitious project aims to produce more than 300,000 tons per annum by 2015 from cows imported from New Zealand.

The 37,000-hectare TH Farm is expected to carry 137,000 cows by 2017. Each cow is fitted with chip devices and ID tags to monitor health, welfare and productivity.

TH Milk Group has commissioned Benco Pack, a leading supplier of aseptic form-fill-seal machinery, to install a new form-fill-seal packaging line equipped with an Integrated Sleeve Applicator (ISA).

The Benco Pack Form Fill Seal Pack Line will produce thermoformed 100 mL yoghurt cups with plans to produce a second type of fresh milk-based dessert in the future. The products will be available in 2x2, 2x3 or 2x4 multipacks, with up to four different flavours available in each multipack. The products are expected to have a one-month refrigerated shelf life.

The ISA process will enhance the products’ appearance as labels are heat-shrunk as a skin to the walls of the cup, allowing for customised shapes and enhanced shelf appearance with brighter graphics than traditional paper labels.
