Firestone 70-P-13 Airomatic Polyactuators

Tiny pneumatic actuators that can exert forces of more than 0.45 kN at 3.5 bar yet last for millions of cycles in demanding environments are being offered for food, packaging and hygiene-sensitive materials handling applications.

Firestone 70-P-13 Airomatic Polyactuators stand just 16 mm high deflated yet have a stroke of more than 12.5 mm. When used in gravity conveyor lines, for example, these tough moulded plastic actuators offer major benefits of affordability, cleanliness, compact installation and trouble-free performance.

The units maintain their full structural integrity, flexibility and shape over extended periods of service - they require no maintenance and are not prone to the problem of actuator ‘set’, when an actuator builds up a resistance over time to extending and contracting to its full original specifications.

The actuators are also easy to clean and are not prone to leaking of compressed air due to wear in these areas. The same lack of seals and rods also helps make them suitable for frequent washdowns in hygiene-sensitive applications, because they tolerate cleaning without damage and without trapping particles in complex structures.

The tiny Airomatic, with a diameter of just 76 mm, is fabricated of moulded plastic elements welded together in a sealed unit. It is easily customisable to meet specific sizes and shapes for a wide variety of materials handling and processing applications, including conveyors.

Originally designed for the conveyor industry, the actuators assist in conveyor transfer sections and roller brakes, but can be used in almost any application requiring very small pressure and stroke.
