$1.6 million funding for logistics sector
At the Australian Logistics Council (ALC) Annual Forum 2007, Mark Vaile, Minister for Transport & Regional Services, announced funding of $1.6 million for the freight and logistics sector.
The review into the logistics industry concluded that a new strategy under the guidance and leadership of ALC should be developed during 2007 and delivered through to 2010.
"The government will continue to provide ALC with funding support during the transition period of $1.6 million over four years," said Vaile.
To support the freight and logistics industry, Vaile said the government was looking to build better transport infrastructure and deliver a new national reform agenda for future transport policy.
The ALC Annual Forum 2007 is attended by 150 delegates - comprising senior freight and logistics practitioners from business, government and agencies. Through debate and discussion, the forum shapes and sets the agenda for future industry directions.
