Enhancing the presentation of your product can be achieved with attractive packaging but the old adage that the proof is in the eating is increasingly being explored by food processors and their marketing teams. With today’s media a substantial emphasis is given to taste and the appearance of food. By the addition of some special ingredients, not only the taste but the appeal of the product can be shaped.

Almost any food products, processed, will accept the addition of extra ingredients: confectionery can be changed with a coating; snack bars are more appealing when topped with nuts; production of pizzas or packaged meals are made easy when many of the ingredients can be added automatically; with the addition of pepper corns, paté tastes more exciting; tubs of muesli or yoghurt are enhanced with a final topping; snack foods are value-added and more taste appealing when certain spices are included; baked products such as cakes or breads are made more attractive when presented with special toppings; and what would lamingtons be without the addition of coconut? The possibilities are seemingly endless where compatible products can be brought together.

Achieving this blending manually can be an expensive exercise and whilst older systems, such as rotary screw sprinklers or dosing machines, will produce a result, many companies are recognising that by employing vibratory equipment, a more acceptable answer is available.

Vibratory equipment has many features that benefit the food industry. Being constructed, for example, to the HACCP standard, they have a built-in assurance that equipment that can be cleaned easily, is acceptable to any condition in the food industry and is usually designed for specific applications.

One company specialising in this area is Enmin Vibratory Equipment, a Victorian based manufacturer that works within all aspects of the food and allied industries. Over the years they have provided solutions to many companies seeking an answer to specific handling needs. As a result, they have a valuable repertoire of practical examples using vibratory equipment to achieve the addition of attractive product enhancements.
