Winning format brings new food products to life
Eat Well TV at Universal Media Co has scored 10 awards at the 2022 International Telly Awards in New York for its one-hour Christmas special Eat Well Presents, Christmas with Emma Dean.
The Eat Well TV team brings innovative food products to life by presenting them in a native context using recipes, and a touch of celebrity, via a range of media channels, including Eat Well TV, which airs on Channel 9.
Hosted by former MasterChef winner Emma Dean with special guests Tobie Puttock and Alice Zaslavsky, the winning television special demonstrated food products and techniques in an authentic Aussie Christmas setting. It was filmed during lockdown on Victoria’s Great Ocean Road and showcased food products from over 20 sponsors.
Eat Well Publisher Janice Williams was thrilled to win 10 awards for the program, which aired on Channel 9 in December 2021. The Australian special TV show was up against tough international opposition but ended up winning one gold for best writing, as well as three silver and six bronze awards, including one in the food & beverage category.
“We find that the best way to show a new food product is to show it being used, either in a recipe, or simply via demonstration,” Williams said. “We then deploy these stories on TV and in social, inbox and print media to make sure that we are telling the story to the right market. To win [no] fewer than 10 awards for our implementation of these stories in a TV context is testimony to the strength of our creative team.”
Eat Well Presents, Christmas with Emma Dean was created by Executive Producer Emily Owens of Toffee Collective. Co-Executive Producers were Janice Williams and Emma Perera. Other credits include: Head of Brand Partnerships — Tracey Dwyer; Head of Design — Michaela Primiano; Magazine Feature Editor — Catherine Falalis; and Digital Producer — Alex Dalland. Eat Well is part of the WellBeing Media Group at Universal Media Co.
