The Australian Food Science and Technology Convention and Australian Microbiology Conference

The Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology (AIFST) Convention will be held in 2015 in conjunction with the 15th Australian Microbiology Conference.

Held at Sydney’s Luna Park from 11 to 13 August, this year’s theme - Food for All - will cover the big ideas and latest thinking on Australia’s role in catering for the world’s growing population.

The convention program will include presentations and discussions around topics such as:

  • The changing landscape of the food industry
  • Kicking food safety goals
  • Food retailing - push or pull?
  • Omics, including the application of omics technology to the food industry and the genomics of taste
  • Vulnerable populations - future directions
  • Food defence
  • Dairy innovation
  • Value-added grains
  • Supply chain black holes
  • Practical food safety and shelf life
  • Sanitation in engineering
  • Food safety risks

New to the convention program this year is the Food Entrepreneur - Business Essentials Workshop, a one-day navigation through the essentials of developing a sustainable food business.
