Sydney nut event set to be a cracker
If you were asked what Australia’s largest horticultural export is, would you think of nuts?
The Australian nut industry is currently enjoying high prices and growing consumption, both here and internationally, and the Australian Nut Conference, coming to Sydney from 21-22 April, will focus on ways to continue this growth and shape the future of the sector.
According to the Australian Nut Industry Council (ANIC), a strong worldwide trend emphasising the dietary value of nuts, confidence in safety and quality as well as buoyant international markets has helped our nation become an increasingly important supplier of tree nuts for the global marketplace.
Investments in new plantings, in particular hazelnuts, are expected to increase Australian crop production by 44% and surpass $1bn in export sales by 2025.
The conference is set to be a key networking opportunity for professionals across the entire supply chain and will host exhibitor presentations and keynote speakers who will look at production forecasts, case studies, new initiatives and emerging domestic and international growth trends affecting the sector.
The two-day event will open the evening before (20 April) with a welcome cocktail function at the Sydney Museum of Contemporary Art.
