Siemens Australia appoints new CEO and Chairman
Siemens Australia has announced that Peter Halliday, who is currently the Senior VP at Siemens Smart Infrastructure, will take the role of its CEO and Chairman on 1 September. He will take on the roles after their current holder, Jeff Connolly, departs the company on 31 August.
Halliday (pictured below) has worked for the company for 24 years across its Australian, Asian and European operations. He previously served as the global head of Siemens’ Building Performance and Sustainability division in Switzerland, and brings experience in engineering, project management, sales, business development, portfolio and senior management.
Matthias Rebellius, Member of the Managing Board for Siemens AG, said: “We are pleased to confirm Peter as the new CEO for Siemens Australia. Peter’s extensive local and global leadership and technical experience will be pivotal to shaping future growth and the digital transformation of our customers in Australia and New Zealand.
“I also want to thank Jeff Connolly for his incredible contribution to shaping the brand and reputation of Siemens in the region. Jeff is not only highly regarded in Siemens but also across industry and government for his contributions to progressing critical topics related to manufacturing and Industry 4.0, the energy transition including hydrogen and the need for intelligent infrastructure in Australia.”
Halliday said: “This is an exciting opportunity, and I am looking forward to working with the great team in the region to progress the company towards its next phase of growth. Technology and digitalisation will accelerate much needed outcomes for industry, infrastructure and the environment.”
The changing of hands coincides with Siemens Australia’s 150th anniversary this year as well as the company’s launch of its Xcelerator open digital business platform.
“Technology has been the backbone of all major transformations in Australia’s history, and proudly, Siemens has been at the centre of this for the past 150 years. Electrification and digitalisation will be at the core of Australia’s next 150 years including energy and industrial transitions,” Halliday said.
“Our focus is to make digital transformation easier, faster and at scale so business and society can be more resilient and better able to adapt quickly to changing local and global circumstances. Naturally, we need like-minded partners and continued strong relationships with industry, academia, governments and our partners.
“I am honoured to be given the opportunity to lead the company on this fantastic journey.”
