Paper bottle company acquired by HP
HP has announced that it is acquiring Choose Packaging, a packaging developer responsible for its plastic-free paper bottle made from natural, non-toxic materials.
Choose’s patented technology is designed to provide an alternative to plastic bottles and can hold a wide variety of liquid products. Its paper-based bottles are made with naturally occurring and non-toxic materials. It has worked with a range of companies and brands, including Accolade Wines, Malibu Rum and Henkel. Accolade Wines has over 50 brands, including Hardys, Banrock Station and Grant Burge, and is available in more than 130 countries.
“This acquisition is a great example of how we continue to strengthen our capabilities in attractive verticals like sustainable packaging while also driving progress against HP’s broader sustainability goals,” said Savi Baveja, Chief Strategy & Incubation Officer, HP Inc.
The purchase marks the continuation of HP’s move into sustainable packaging, following on from its introduction of a 3D printing-enabled moulded fibre tooling technology to allow fibre-based products to come to market faster. Choose will be integrated into HP’s personalisation and 3D printing business, where it will be involved in increasing the scale of the packaging market as it contributes to the reduction in single-use plastics.
“As a plastic-free packaging development company, we’ve successfully created technology that can provide a viable alternative to plastic bottles to help eliminate single-use PET packaging,” said James Longcroft, founder and managing director, Choose Packaging.
“HP’s world-class capabilities and expertise can help scale our impact at a global level. We are thrilled to join the HP team and couldn’t have chosen a better match in terms of our shared goals for business, technology, sustainability and a values-oriented culture.”
No financial details of the acquisition have been released.
