Major food industry speakers at RT12 conference
Some of the biggest brands in the food industry will speak at the RT12/Zero Deforestation Transparency and Scale conference taking place in Lille, France, 31 May to 1 June 2017.
The RT12 conference is hosted by the Roundtable on Responsible Soy Association (RTRS), an internationally recognised organisation promoting responsible production, processing and trading of soy.
Major food industry speakers such as McDonald’s, Nestlé, Fefac, Bel Group and Mars Petcare will meet to discuss issues about deforestation.
Marcello Visconti, RTRS executive director, said, “We believe that it is crucially important to bring together actors in the soy sector from across the globe to discuss, face to face, issues that are important to us. We have a host of fantastic thought leaders speaking at RT12 addressing three key themes for the future of soy: zero deforestation, supply chain transparency and scaling up."
The event, which will attract 250 stakeholders from the global supply chain, will explore practical solutions to achieving continuous improvement in sustainable soy through dialogue with thought leaders within the sector.
The two-day event will focus on deforestation: monitoring strategies and tools, risk analysis, solutions for bridging the gap between legal compliance and zero deforestation; supply chain transparency: challenges and solutions for sustainable physical supply chains, transparency tools and stories from the field; the scaling up of production: jurisdictional approaches, finance and government and synergies between soy standards.
RTRS’s latest enhancement of its Soy Production Standard (version 3.0) has created the world’s first Zero Deforestation multistakeholder certification standard. It is the only multistakeholder certification scheme that guarantees zero deforestation in responsible soy production.
