Ingham's to close Cleveland plant in Queensland
At its Cleveland site in Queensland, Ingham’s currently employs around 160 people to process fresh chickens and produce cooked and frozen products like nuggets and tenders. However, this is going to change over the next eight months as the company has announced it is “consolidating” its processing plants from four to three and closing its Cleveland operations.
The company will invest in capacity at its processing plants in South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales so they can absorb volumes currently coming from its Queensland plant.
How Ingham’s will use the Cleveland premises into the future is unknown but its presence in Queensland will continue having opened a logistics and laboratory facility at Lytton in February. In total, Ingham’s employs about 2000 people in Queensland, including 1300 at its Murarrie site.
