Atlas Copco first compressor manufacturer awarded ISO 22000
Atlas Copco has become the first compressor manufacturer to receive ISO 22000 certification for its production facility in Antwerp, Belgium.
ISO 22000 specifies the food safety management system (FSMS) requirements for organisations in the food chain. The FSMS demonstrates the organisation’s ability to control food safety hazards in order to ensure that food is safe at the time of human consumption.
The facility manufactures oil-free air compressors, blowers and air treatment products. In many applications, compressed air comes into contact with the end product or even forms an active part of the food, which motivated Atlas Copco to seek the certification.
“The same HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and procedures as used in food companies have been implemented in the design and production of compressors, blowers and air treatment products,” said Chris Lybaert, president, Oil-free Air Division.
