Thursday, 12 March, 2015

The Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association (APPMA) has announced the finalists for the 2015 Best New Product Award. The award, which will be announced at the 2015 APPMA Industry Excellence Awards on 25 March, is designed to recognise the most innovative product or equipment in the packaging and processing industry that is launched in Australia for the first time during AUSPACK 2015.

The finalists are:

CLP Casepacker (Case Packing Systems):The CLP Casepacker is a highly flexible, compact, pick and place casepacking machine. The system loads products into plastic crates, corrugated cases or open top trays automatically. The standard machine is programmable to handle single- or multiple-layer packing formats at a speed of 30 layers/min. Stand #626.

CLP Casepacker.

Skyfall Conveyor System (Denipro): Skyfall is a conveyor system for distribution, logistics and industrial. It has been designed for conveying from A to B, linking processes in a simple way, compensating of varying process speeds, decoupling processes by buffering, order picking, sorting, processing and controlling. The system utilises gravity to achieve cost and energy efficiency. Stand #540.

Coffee Pod Cartoning Machine (HMPS): The HMPS8000 is a carton erector and robotic pick and place system for small pre-sealed product (pods). The solution was designed to be highly flexible to allow for the initial rate of 120 pods/min, and to increase to 360 pods/min when required. Stand #444.

HEUFT prime (Heuft SystemTechnik GMBH): The HEUFT prime checks full containers on filling and packaging lines of the beverage, food and pharmaceutical industry. The compact device includes modules for examining fill levels, closures, internal pressure and labels as well as detecting burst bottles and serial faults with a high degree of automation. Stand #656.

Heuft prime.

Packaging Safety System (SICK): The SICK safety solution incorporates two optical sensors in combination with a safety relay for redundant presence and position control at the infeed zone of packaging machines. The solution delivers personnel safety, is economical and easy to install without interfering in machine operability and also aligns with the AS4044 standard. Stand #242.

SICK Packaging Safety System.

Domino A520i IP66 inkjet printer (insignia): The Domino A520i continuous inkjet printer has been designed to meet the specific needs of washdown or dusty environments using marine-grade stainless steel. The IP66 electronics sealed enclosure is cooled using an innovative plenum cooling system. The A520i reduces solvent footprint by up to 60% compared to a standard inkjet printer. Stand #550.

IRB1200 Case Packing Robot (ABB Australia): IRB 1200 is a fast, compact case-packing robot suitable for high-speed pick-and-place applications, particularly case packing and the loading of thermoform packaging machines. The IRB 1200 can work close to its base and still be functional, allowing for a more compact installation when the robot is mounted on the ceiling inside a small cell. Stand #432.

A-Series Label Printer Applicator (Matthews Australasia): The A-Series Label Printer Applicator is suitable for manufacturers with high demands on ease of use and uptime. The applicator only uses sealed ball bearings and there are no mechanical friction clutches; instead, an intelligently controlled brushless DC motor ensures correct force in the backing paper. Stand #360.

Ulysses Shelf Ready Case Packer (Walls Machinery/Adaptapack): Adaptapack’s Ulysses Shelf Ready Case Packer is a robotic, automated packaging solution for shelf ready products. The Ulysses has a small footprint and the flexible design can be tailored to pack a range of different items including pouches, cartons, trays and bags. Ulysses can also assist in reducing product loss due to damage or contamination. Stand #334
