The Boreas wort-stripping system from Krones is used for the controlled evaporation of unwanted aromatics from beer. It ‘blows’ the unwanted celery taste, for example, out of the beer wort.


APPMA Scholarship winner announced

During the 2012 AIP National Conference at the Marriott Surfers Paradise, the APPMA announced the winner of the annual scholarship program which enables one person each year to study a Diploma in Packaging Technology. The scholarship winner is Anna Roland, Technical Officer, Betta Foods Australia.


Retail-ready packaging set to be the norm

The ‘big two’ supermarket chains want to see shelf-friendly packaging as the norm and are working with ECRA to assist the industry in developing robust, sustainable solutions.

Avery Dennison and Tronics have collaborated on a labeller for the Avery Dennison Shrink PS packaging material that enables late-stage decorating of vacuum-shrink bags. The labeller applies the pressure-sensitive label to the shrinkable bags offline or inline prior to filling and vacuum sealing. The system is suitable for the meat and dairy industries.
