The Misco handheld wine refractometer is available in Australia and New Zealand from Scientific Solutions.

Special models are available with scales for various international units of measure including refractive index, specific gravity at 20°C, specific gravity at 17.5°C, density (kg/L), plato, baume, oechsle, klosterneuburger mostwaage (KMW), and the actual sugar content in grams per litre or in grams per kilogram. Scales are also available for measuring the potential alcohol of grape must and actual alcohol percent by volume of finished wine.

With up to five scales per instrument, these devices will provide winemakers almost instantaneous access to data. These capabilities, once only possible in large and expensive laboratory instruments, are now available for the hand of every winemaker.
