Beverages meet beauty

Nestlé has introduced a daily beauty drink dietary supplement that it claims will protect and hydrate the inner and outer layers of the skin.

Glowelle, formulated with a proprietary blend of high antioxidant vitamins, phtyo-nutrients, botanical and fruit extracts, is being sold on cosmetics counters at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman stores in the US.

The product is available in a ready-to-drink glass bottle as well as 7- or 30-day powder pack kits. Made with tea, fruit and botanical extracts, Glowelle is available in two flavours, raspberry jasmine and pomegranate lychee.

The drink is being marketed at women and it is claimed to work synergistically with their current beauty regimens to enhance skin’s appearance.

The marriage of functional food with fashion may give beverage producers an entirely new outlet for their products.
