The world’s biggest cook-off
Anuga 2007, one of the largest and most important events for the international food and beverage sector, will be held in Cologne, Germany this October.
With more than 6000 suppliers from around 100 countries, Anuga is expecting approximately 160,000 trade visitors from around the world. The fair will exhibit new products, innovations, concepts and trends, while providing a platform for the discussion of the latest topics of interest in today's food business.
The traditional opening event, on October 12, will be held by the sector's top managers for top managers. The theme in 2007 is "opportunities for growth', with the speakers expected to include Dr Gordon Campbell, general director of Internationale SPAR Centrale BV from Amsterdam.
Numerous awards for outstanding commitment to the food industry will be presented during Anuga, including the Creative Award for the best cheese counter team in Germany, the Innovation Prize for organic food innovations, the Chilled Food Award for success with fresh convenience products, the Selly Award for the organic market of the year, and the Golden Ice Crystal for special achievements in the international frozen foods industry.
The final round of the Grips & Co professional competition, for promoting talented newcomers, will once again be held during the event. The seminar for young talent from the wholesale beverage trade, Fuxenstall, will also feature an awards ceremony honouring Germany's best beverage dealers.
Presentations and workshops will be available for various aspects of the food and beverage sector. Themes include "organic centre of excellence', "organic in the supermarket', "do organic products really taste better?', traceability systems, and health benefits of organic products.
The "WellFood' congress will also be at the event, offering new approaches and ideas for the food business in response to the strong trend towards a greater awareness of health and wellness.
Anuga also offers supporting programs for the food service and catering market, inviting leading managers from the hotel and restaurant trade, hotel trade and the catering sector's supplier industry to take part in an exchange of knowledge at the 17th Forum for System Catering.
