Print technology half-day course
The Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) will be introducing a half-day training course on the introduction to print technology.
The first course will be run on Wednesday 10 August 2011 at the Viewpoint Centre, St Kilda, Victoria. The course presenter will be Andrew Readman, who is a Lecturer of Printing Machining at RMIT University ICGT (International Centre of Graphic Technology).
Questions covered will include: have you ever gone to a press approval and struggled to make the printer understand what you wanted?
Do you want a basic understanding of what problems you are likely to encounter with each print process?
The AIP has enlisted the help of Andrew Readman, Specialist Teacher, Print Machining Workplace Trainer and Assessor from RMIT’s School of Design International Centre of Graphic Technology to provide a half-day training session on the introduction to print technology.
Subjects covered will include: the print processes; print and other related problems you may encounter; a simulated press approval process; further associated ‘production quality’ factors including print technology advances.
As part of the session Andrew will show attendees how to use a linen tester (eyeglass) which they will get to take with them. He will also introduce the use of pantone charts books, colour densitometers and more.
This half-day training course will provide delegates with adequate information to be able to have an informed discussion with a printer about requirements and needs.
People likely to benefit from this course are packaging technologists, packaging designers, people involved in print sales and marketers.
