New chair for AFGC Board
The Australian Food and Grocery Council (AFGC) Board has elected a new chair. Terry O’Brien, Managing Director of Simplot Australia, has been elected by the Board following the resignation of John Doumani.
Doumani, Managing Director Australia New Zealand of Fonterra, served on the AFGC Board for five years, including two years as chair.
O’Brien brings more than 25 years of industry experience to the role, including two stints on the AFGC Board.
“It’s great to have someone with so much industry knowledge and vitality who will help AFGC take up these important challenges and to work with government to strengthen the current operating environment,” said AFGC CEO Gary Dawson.
Dawson thanked Doumani for his leadership. “Under his direction, the AFGC has played a key role in the development of the National Food Plan, launched the Healthier Australia Commitment and implemented a range of proactive whole-of-industry initiatives.
The Board has also elected Chris Delaney, CEO of Goodman Fielder, to the role of deputy chair - the position previously held by O’Brien.
