New CEO for Food SA
The South Australian food industry’s association, Food South Australia, is quickly taking shape and readying to connect and service the state’s food producers.
After the recent board announcement and first meeting, Chair Anthony Paech says the board is pleased to announce the appointment of Catherine Barnett as CEO of Food SA.
Catherine says she is excited by the role and passionate about the industry and what Food SA is aiming to achieve long term.
“Food SA is aiming to help grow value and opportunities for all in the SA food industry and already has in place significant member services in market and capability development including overseas offices in Japan and China,” said Catherine.
“The Japan and China markets are vital to Food SA and members and assist businesses to export into these key markets and provide a full market development service.
“The offices have driven significant export results for companies and South Australia. We look forward to working with companies to grow exports in those markets. We have also run and will continue to run a successful domestic program to help those businesses move into the local and interstate markets.
“Food SA is membership driven and starts with 100 existing members from the previous Food Adelaide and Flavour SA associations.
“As a membership-based association, we are encouraging all food businesses to get on board with us to work together and drive the growth of our dynamic food industry.”
Food SA will also deliver a comprehensive range of programs which service the broad SA food industry and help ensure South Australia (and Adelaide) is recognised on the world map as home to fresh pristine produce and innovative consumer demanded products.
An expert team is also now in place at Food SA; all experienced in the food industry and offering skills across the areas of market development, capability development, communications and events.
