International best beverage award goes to Australian company Preshafruit
Australian food and beverage company Preshafood has beaten entries from beverage giants PepsiCo and Coca-Cola at the prestigious international Beverage Innovation Awards held at Drinktec in Germany. Drinktec is the premier event showcasing global innovations in beverage and liquid food technology and the Beverage Innovation Awards are the Oscars equivalent for the beverage industry.
Preshafood has taken out first prize in the Best New Juice or Juice Drink and the overall award across the 24 award categories, Best New Beverage Concept.
At a gala ceremony in Munich, attended by beverage industry heavyweights, Preshafruit, an innovative new fruit juice, was awarded the top honour relegating Coke and Pepsi to the minor placings.
Preshafruit, the flagship product of Preshafood, was selected as the best beverage from over 340 entries from 40 countries. Preshafruit was also voted best new juice or juice drink.
Preshafruit incorporates a new technology called high pressure processing (HPP). The juice is passed through a machine where it is exposed to very high pressures (6000 times greater than standard atmospheric pressure). The pressure kills the natural bacteria without changing the taste, colour or smell.
This process means that the juice is 100% natural with absolutely no added sugars, colours or preservatives.
The concept was developed in consultation with the CSIRO’s Food Science Australia.
