During the Awards of Excellence on Wednesday 17 June, which were held alongside AUSPACK 2009, the Australian Packaging Machinery Association announced the inaugural winner of the annual scholarship program which enables one person each year to study an Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) Diploma in Packaging Technology — which is an internationally accredited course.

Rob Lawrence, Chairman of the Australian Packaging Machinery Association, announced that the inaugural winner is Rebecca Du, who is a packaging engineer for Amcor Fibre Packaging in New South Wales.

“Rebecca has been in the packaging industry for over 10 years and has shown that she is dedicated to her career through both her academic and employment records. She is committed to furthering her education and applying the knowledge gained from the Diploma in Packaging Technology to benefit the wider packaging industry. Rebecca is supported strongly by her employer who has always supported staff advancing their packaging education,” Lawrence said.

“Rebecca’s painstaking attitude towards good practice in packaging, her studies, perseverance and enterprising spirit will take her a long way in her chosen field,” he said.

Rebecca will commence her Diploma in Packaging Technology this year and both the Australian Packaging Machinery Association and the AIP look forward to seeing her graduate in a few years.
