Heat and Control celebrates 60th year
Founded in 1950 by five engineers who had the goal of modernising cooking equipment for the food industry, Heat and Control has played a role during the early days of industrial cooking systems, pioneering continuous cooking equipment.
Heat and Control innovations include the external heat exchanger for industrial frying systems, high-speed processing equipment for potato chips and other snacks, and the invention of the multipurpose oven, the MPO Cooking System.
Recently released equipment includes the HeatWave fryer, FastBack conveyor, Revolution Seasoning System and Revolution Proportional Gate and the KleenHeat heat exchanger.
Manufacturing facilities began in California and expanded into Australia, Mexico, China and South Africa and are now supported by a network of regional sales offices in India, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina, Canada, Scotland and The Netherlands, Poland and Spain. Australia is headquarters for all operations outside America and is home to a manufacturing facility that exports around the world.
One of the original founders, Andy Caridis, maintains his enthusiasm and energy for the industry and plays a key role in R&D programs. Still a family managed business, Andy’s son, Tony Caridis, is the current president and has been influential in expanding into packaging systems whereby the company, in close partnership with Ishida, a weighing technology company, has become a full service provider of food processing technologies.
