FMC BioPolymer opens Singapore Technical Centre with food laboratory
FMC Corporation has opened a Technical Centre in Singapore, featuring a state-of-the-art food laboratory. FMC said its new facility - located in Singapore Science Park 2 - will serve the technology and formulation needs of FMC’s growing food and beverage customer base in Singapore and South-East Asia.
“Combining an exceptionally strong technical selling team with an advanced food laboratory has been a winning formula for our business and our customers in China,” said Stewart Campbell, Asia-Pacific commercial director for FMC BioPolymer’s Food Ingredients.
“We’re now pleased to be able to offer that same level of service and in-market support in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, Australia and throughout South-East Asia, from a laboratory in the premier R&D location for the food ingredients industry in the region.”
Mary T Clarke, General Manager of Food Ingredients for the company, said, “Our new Singapore Technical Centre brings our premier service model to South-East Asian customers who want to develop their products faster and more efficiently.”
FMC BioPolymer produces food and pharmaceutical functional ingredients. The company’s natural carrageenan extracts and alginates are used to thicken, stabilise and improve the texture of dairy, meats, bakery and convenience foods.
The acquisition of Southpole Biogroup in 2011 allowed FMC BioPolymer to add natural colours and nutritionals to its product range, increasing its presence in the food sensory and functional ingredients markets.
2011 sales totalled around $3.4 billion for FMC Corporation, which employs approximately 5000 people worldwide. Its businesses are operated in three segments: agricultural products, speciality chemicals and industrial chemicals.
