First food manufacturer adopts Health Star Rating
The Monster Health Food Co has become the first company to sport the front-of-pack Health Star Rating on its product. The new labelling appears on the company’s Berry and Free&Lo mueslis, with its remaining products set to feature the new labelling in the next 12 months.
Monster owners Kim and Trevor Lauman say they haven’t made any changes to their recipes to achieve the ratings. The company has received scores from 3.5 to 5 stars.
Choice’s campaigns manager Angela Cartwright has congratulated Monster on being the first to adopt the front-of-pack labelling.
“It’s great to see a local company stepping up and rolling out the ratings, particularly when we’ve heard so much noise from the big end of town about the difficulties with implementing the Health Star Rating Scheme,” said Cartwright.
“Monster Health Food Co’s co-owner Trevor Laumann has indicated the costs were nowhere near figures bandied about by the Australian Food and Grocery Council.”
