Dr Kailasapathy wins Danisco International Dairy Science Award

The Danisco International Dairy Science Award 2010 was awarded to Dr Kasipathy Kailasapathy. Dr Kailasapathy, who works at the School of Natural Sciences, won the award for substantial contribution to understanding the health benefits of probiotic bacteria, controlled delivery through microencapsulation and bioactive components in food.

The American Dairy Science Association selects a panel of world experts to evaluate applications and applicants must show the significant contributions to dairy science internationally over the past 20 years.

The Danisco International Dairy Science Award is presented annually to recognise accomplishments in research and development outside the US and Canada in chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, technology and engineering pertaining to the dairy foods industries. Nominees will be invited to present a special address at the annual meeting of the American Dairy Science Association.
