DAFF invites feedback on new draft biosecurity bill
The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) is inviting the Australian public and industry to comment on new legislation to replace the Quarantine Act 1908.
DAFF says the new legislation is designed to enable better management of the risks of animal and plant pests and diseases entering Australia.
You can comment on the new legislation by:
- Attending a public consultation meeting
- Commenting on DAFF’s biosecurity legislation blog
- Making a formal submission
- Emailing DAFF at newbiosecuritylegislation@daff.gov.au
- Calling the information hotline on 1800 040 629
Public consultation meetings will be held from 30 July to 6 August throughout the country. To attend, register via email by 13 July.
The formal consultation process closes on Friday 10 August.
