Business as usual for BSI, despite NCSI acquisition
BSI, the world’s first National Standards Body, has acquired NCS International (NCSI) from the National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia (NATA).
Effective from 9 May 2013, NCSI’s business has been combined with BSI to form BSI incorporating NCSI.
“We believe this will provide significant synergies for our clients and related shareholders and opportunities for our staff,” a BSI statement said.
BSI has confirmed that it will be “business as usual” for all its NCSI clients.
“There is no need to make any changes to your current certification, and both your point of contact and your Client Manager remain the same,” BSI said in a statement. “Both BSI and NCSI have the same Accreditation Body - JAS-ANZ - which recognises that all certificates issued by NCSI and BSI remain valid.”
A number of NCSI customers have reportedly been informed by competing certification bodies that they must now transfer their certificates to BSI. According to BSI, this is incorrect and potentially a dishonest representation under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010.
BSI has also introduced Nick Koukoulas as BSI Managing Director. Koukoulas brings more than 20 years’ experience in senior management including roles in leading private investment companies.
