Bosch to acquire Ampack Ammann for undisclosed sum

Tuesday, 24 July, 2012

Bosch Packaging Technology has announced its plans to acquire German manufacturer Ampack Ammann. Bosch says the acquisition will enable its Packaging Technology division to complement its existing product portfolio of technologies for packaging liquid and paste-like food products.

Ampack Ammann has developed and produced equipment such as cup- and bottle-filling machines, dosing systems and peripheral machinery. The equipment is designed for filling and packing sensitive food including dairy products, baby food and hospital food, but also includes dosable products such as cereals. The company runs a microbiology test laboratory and has conducted its own aseptics research.

Established in 1973, Ampack now employs about 250 associates and has generated average sales of €35 million in recent years. In addition to manufacturing its own machines and equipment, the company offers a range of after-sales services, including maintenance and overhaul of used machinery and spare parts supply, and also acts as a general contractor for complete filling and packing lines.

“Bosch Packaging Technology’s global sales and service network will put us in an even better position to market our filling and packaging machines internationally,” said Rainer Ammann, Executive Director of Ampack Amman and son of company founder Siegfried Amman.

The companies signed an agreement on the acquisition on 20 July, but will not disclose the purchase price. The planned acquisition is subject to approval by German authorities.
