Anuga Food Tec - not for the high-heeled
This is my third Anuga Food Tec and every time I am amazed at the sheer size of the event. There are hundreds of exhibitors and there is stainless steel everywhere. The exhibition is held every three years in Cologne and anyone who’s anyone in the food and beverage processing and packaging industry either exhibits or at least attends.
There are five halls devoted to food process technology covering meat and fish, beverages, bakery, dairy, convenience, tea and coffee, spices and aromas, fruit and vegetables, ice-cream and more. Then there are three halls which focus on packaging technology - equipment, coding and labelling. And then, if your feet aren’t already killing you, there is a final hall devoted to food safety and quality management.
The main theme this year seems to be sustainability - companies wanting to partner with their clients to deliver improvements and enhancements that deliver on both sustainability and corporate responsibility fronts. Complementing this theme are automation, reporting and online sensing.
The largest exhibitor this year has to be Tetra Pak - this company has taken over at least a third of Hall 7 and is focusing on sustainability as well.
Time for a foot bath and to prepare for another full day tomorrow.
