AIP welcomes new National President
The Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) National Board has welcomed Pierre Pienaar FAIP as the new National President during the 2010 National Conference.
Pierre has been National President of the South African Institute of Packaging, a director of the Packaging Council of Southern Africa and a representative on the board of the World Packaging Organisation.
He has lectured in the technology and science of packaging at various universities and institutions for the past 23 years and is currently a tutor for the correspondence course being offered through the Australian Institute of Packaging, namely the Diploma in Packaging IoP UK.
He has his own packaging consulting business, PackTech Solutions Pty Ltd, and has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical and food packaging industries.
According to Pierre, “I have often been challenged in the past about my motivation for taking on roles such as this, or why I even bother to get involved in the industry’s state and national bodies to the extent I do. I have a busy life with three busy teenagers and a lovely wife who works full time and we try to get involved in community life where we can. The answer is simple: I believe in the industry.”
He says the packaging industry is a fast evolving industry and it has a huge responsibility to remain current, to remain educated and to be informed about it.
“In my tenure as AIP National President, I hope to offer you far more than my humble suit but I challenge you to keep yourself up to date with the latest ‘fashion’ and demands of the packaging industry through ongoing education and through your involvement in the many enlightening opportunities the AIP offers. It will be my privilege to serve you these next two years,” Pienaar said.
