Townsend Skinners, available from Marel, process in three stages. Firstly, pressure is applied by the machine’s shoe and blade assembly, then a sharp tooth roll pulls the product across the blade and shoe and finally, a sharp blade separates the skin or membrane. All three processes are synchronised in order to maximise yields.
The skinners are custom designed and built to suit the specific needs of meat, poultry and fish processors. According to the company, they offer the highest yields of any skinners on the market, as well as offering a low cost of ownership, due to the equipment’s durable construction, ease of maintenance and fewer parts than comparable equipment.
Operating speed can be matched to operator capability in order to ensure safer operation and the skinners are easily sanitised.
