Donaldson Filter Buddy portable filtration unit

Filter Buddy is a heavy-duty, handheld portable filtration system that allows operators to kidney loop reservoirs that normally cannot be done with larger filter carts.

Working at a rate as high as 7.6 L/min, the unit suits many applications including fluid transfer, offline filtration of hydraulic oils and lubricants, water removal, transmission fluids and the double checking of purity in new fluids.

In fluid transfer, it ensures fluid being transferred from a drum or tote is clean. During offline filtration the unit supplements existing filtration to achieve target ISO cleanliness levels.

In water removal applications, the system helps remove free water from an operating system. With new fluids, it provides the task of double checking against the presence of manufacturers’ contaminants.

The unit has a relatively small size and light weight (approximately 20 kg) so it is easy to carry up and down stairs and into tight or confined spaces. It also fits on top of a drum for convenient transferring and filtering from a drum to a reservoir.

The unit features dual HMK04 filtration using Donaldson’s Synteq media. The filters are plumbed in series, giving users the option of coarse/fine particle removal or the ability to install a water absorbing element for water/particle removal.

There are two models available: a standard (low-viscosity) version for fluids up to 900 SUS and a high-viscosity version for fluids up to 8000 SUS.

Features include a rugged and durable frame with high-efficiency media grades, dual-stage filtration, overload-protection switch and sample port.

The unit is claimed to have a long service life, facilitates filtration in hard to reach locations, is cost effective to run, handles coarse/fine or water particulate removal, prevents its motor pump from overheating and enables system cleanliness measurements.
