Tripod Farmers suspends some operations after lettuce recall

Tuesday, 09 February, 2016

Tripod Farmers has announced it has suspended some of its farming and processing operations while investigations are carried out into the cause of Salmonella contamination that has resulted in the recall of many of its pre-packed lettuce and salad greens.

The company is working with the Victorian Health Department to determine the cause of Salmonella detected in three samples of product, which led to the national consumer recall. Further test results are expected next week.

Tripod Farmers MD Frank Ruffo confirmed the company holds multiple quality accreditations, which are all audited regularly as required by Australian Food Safety Standards.

“Our complete production area, including floor and equipment, is sanitised daily and we conduct regular microbiological testing on our facility and product samples, in full compliance with Australian standards.

Ruffo apologised to customers affected by the recall and said the company was doing everything possible to ensure the health and safety of consumers and the integrity of its products.
