Food standards organisation seeks egg information
Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has hatched a plan to review its guidelines on egg safety. It is now seeking information on the production, processing and safety of eggs and egg products in Australia.
The information will be used to support the review of Standard 4.2.5 – Primary product and processing standard for eggs and egg product, of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. It will be used to assess whether the current version of the code is fit for managing food safety issues associated with eggs.
Two areas in particular have been identified as focal points: firstly, the relation between biosecurity and food safety on the farm and secondly, how adequate the current requirements are for the same production of eggs and egg products.
Visit this page for more information and if you’re interested in submitting information. The Call for Information document at the bottom of the page outlines the method for submission.
