Tetra Pak expects to be manufacturing 3 billion closures per year in its new packaging closures plant when it becomes operational in 2018.

The $33 million investment, Tetra Pak’s first closure plant in South Asia, East Asia and Oceania, is being built in Thailand to meet the projected 30% increase in demand for closures between 2015 and 2018.

This new facility will enable Tetra Pak to offer local clients a wider portfolio of caps and closures, shorter lead times and enhanced quality, efficiency and flexibility.

Besides producing new-generation closures such as HeliCap 23, HeliCap 27 and DreamCap 26, the factory will also produce bio-based closures to help drive the sustainability agenda.

This announcement comes two months after Tetra Pak announced a $138 million investment in a new regional packaging material manufacturing facility in Vietnam.
