Markem-Imaje expands TIJ solutions with acquisition
Markem-Imaje has acquired thermal ink jet (TIJ) printing solutions manufacturer RSI Systems. The acquisition will enable Markem-Imaje to offer TIJ printing solutions for printing high-resolution codes, such as complex 2D barcodes, that can be used for traceability, anti-diversion and promotional-coding printing applications.
From 1 July 2013, RSI will continue to offer its products and services under the RSI brand while operating as a separate division of Markem-Imaje.
As social media is increasingly connected with product promotion and product traceability needs, Markem-Imaje sees thermal ink jet as an important enabling technology to meet customer expectations.
“Markem-Imaje customers will benefit from having an easy-to-manage and reliable, high-resolution printing solution to meet their marking and coding needs, while existing customers, distributors and suppliers of RSI can expect continuity in their product offering and service, enhanced by added operational support from Markem-Imaje,” said Markem-Imaje President Serge Kral.
“We’re pleased to welcome RSI into the fold as a new business unit of Markem-Imaje. RSI joins our team knowing the technology, but also knowing what customers need and expect. With the addition of Markem-Imaje ink development capabilities and our global distribution network, we expect this to be an excellent fit for new and existing customers.”
